Slitting rubber is a special challenge, as the application range of the rubber material varies widely, e. g. tire production, diaphragms, conveyor belts etc., and some rubber materials are equipped with inserts (e. g. steel cord and Kevlar).
The main criterion that both the crush and the shear cut system have to meet is the required slitting force which creates a flawless cutting operation. Our crush cut knives PQAS / PQDS with multiple cylinders meet all these requirements. For the shear cut system, collars and bottom knives mounted on top and bottom knife shafts are suitable. With this system, very narrow slit widths are possible.
